Album Rating: 2.5
idk for someone that listens to their fair share of 'blackgaze' this is pretty derivative

Yeah and I don't dig the production, all plastic and muddy. However I dig how abrasive it is, especially the vocals

It’s a solid effort, it just feels a little too condensed. Like, they’re tryna flesh out 2 real big sounds at once but don’t quite do either of ‘em justice.
I think they REALLY get it right on the title track tho- what a beaut.

Man, the beginning of "Storm" is so weird. Like, the guitar tone threw me off, but when it opens up and the whole band comes in.... beautiful.

I feel like the production massively lets down the amazing songwriting on this

I definitely don't really dig how the production makes it sound, too.

Songwriting is really good but especially with headphones it feels like I'm listening to them through a door or something

"it feels like I'm listening to them through a door or something"
isn't this the case for most blackgays tho

"isn't this the case for most blackgays tho"
I really have listened to barely any blackgaze but it's certainly not the case for Alcest and Deafheaven. I get raw production goes along with BM influence but this isn't even raw, just muffled really.
Also anyone know what the instrument in the background of Ligament's chorus is? It's driving me crazy
