I'm just gonna say one more time - at the risk of sounding like a broken record - that any fans of Hop Along (particularly the vocal style) should check out Papercranes - Let's Make Babies In The Woods. It's got a consistently eerie vibe and Rain Phoenix's voice has that whole raspy indie thing going on. Been hyping the record since like January 2011 and still very few have latched on, so +500 indie cred points if you check it out.

Oooh, does that album lean more on the folk or the rock side of Hop Along's vibe?

Umm...if I had to pick I'd say on the folk side but there's a lot of messy stuff going on too so it's best just to listen for yourself.

Was it one of those albums you listened to one time and then discarded? Thus not affording it an opportunity to grow and flourish as so many of my recs inevitably do? ;-)

this is one of the very few albums I can think of where I listen to a particular SECTION of a song a thousand times ("cousin take me home!" from "the fox in motion") but then nothing else, not even the rest of that song

lol that's definitely one of the catchiest moments but damn, that's such a harsh take...the whole record is so engaging start to finish

don't know how you can appretiate the catchy parts without the build-ups of the rest of the song, but hey... at least you get something out of it.

This is definitely a grower for me. At first I was fairly meh about it, but am really starting to like it on the 3rd listen.
