I don't see how this even makes an average rating.

Good review, I agree on pretty much everything except that for me The New Real was a standout track

It's still pretty forgettable. Arguably one of 2018's worst.

it's far from the worst thing I've heard this year
to me it's just your typical below average radio rock that's more or less inoffensive at worst

it's not better or worse than the new Breaking Benjamin record lol

It’s far worse

BB is the better band tbh, even if they're of the same genre

It’s far worse [2]
Shallow catchiness through and through, I see barely any value in it. Ember in all of its safety and issues is a different story.
(ftr I don't hate this band)

That's like comparing eating a piss popsicle to drinking straight piss

I haven’t listened to the new nickelback album in full because I don’t hate myself enough, but that one single of theirs I heard was better than this entire record, their full album can’t be worse.

honestly, Nickelback's last album is their best
granted that's not really saying much but for the most part it's surprisingly harmless

Yeah I’m listening to feed the machine right now for shits and giggles, and it’s honestly pretty decent. Solos pretty good too, For sure better than this shit.
The only reason I listened to this at all is because I used to love them when I was like 12

I will admit to being harsh on this record. "Outsider" wasn't inaudible. It wasn't good either. I think the confusion is what we define as average. I would see average along the lines of records like "The Sickness" or "Post-Traumatic." They aren't memorable or impressive; they're just okay. I can't name any songs I revisit from them. What those albums accomplish "Outsider" doesn't is provide basic quality. A casual listener would find a handful of catchy tunes to get them through the week. Although a more established listener would skip over these records, it provides a common ground for newer fans to immerse in a genre. David Draiman's vocals, albeit misused, aren't that bad. The same goes for Mike Shinoda's songwriting. There's positives to say if nothing at all.
"Outsider" accomplishes nothing. What advancements are made? What positive takeaways are there? What can you say "Outsider" does better than any Three Days Grace album not written by Matt Walst? I'm not saying Three Days Grace did anything astronomical in their run. Sure "One-X" was great, but it didn't age that well. What I find problematic is their reliance on repetition and redundancy. "Outsider" doesn't strive to be different despite its theme. Woe is me; I'm an outsider because I'm different. I'm not in the "it crowd" because I'm me. I don't owe anyone anything because I do what I want. Cry me a river already.
