"See I see this a lot, and as great of an album as this is, I'd still take Parallax I and II and Misdirect over this is a heartbeat."
I got into Parallax I heavily when it came out, but I could never get into II, and hardly anything from it has stuck with me over the years. TGM is a perfect album for me though, so I would definitely agree with you there.

Parallax II is their best album by a substantial amount. I'm on first listen, first two tracks are kind of underwhelming. Yellow Eyes is pretty kickass so far.

Alaska>Colors > TGM > Parallax II by far.

Never got the hype for Colors. It's just a big mess of random genre switches or constant death metal/metalcore riffs that all sound the same. Parallax II is the more thought-out and structured album while retaining the heaviness and insanity that make Colors work. Coma Ecliptic was such a disappointment

This album is ok I guess, but it meanders a lot, even for its short runtime. I can't say I find it too memorable, sadly. Also, I'm not sure if this is a problem for anyone else, but I feel as though the way the band telegraph their tempo and meter changes is getting really predictable... as in, they're putting too much emphasis on it. Like, what the hell was the purpose of the 9/8-time signature in the acoustic part of the opener? What did that extra half-note add in those bars? Older albums showcased a much more seamless blending of sounds and dynamics, but this sounds a bit patched together imo

Probably my favorite album since "the great misdirect"

That acoustic opening is pretty questionable with the timing as I agree it really doesn’t add anything but that’s honestly the only part of the album that I felt that way. The rest is pretty standard Btbam
Actually more of this album was questionable harmonically (re: head scratching melodies, and in my opinion some really odd chord progressions)

Not as good as Parallax II, but quite good.

Parallax II is just a mammoth of an album easily on par with TGM and is my personal favorite album of all time but thats besides the point and my opinion

Parallax II is like Metropolis II's ADD aggressive step brother that has a tantrum 5 times a day
And you better believe that is a compliment

There are some good riffs in this. I was surprised that the guitarist(s) left behind the whole monotonous wanking on guitar for 10 minutes thing. But this album doesn't really go anywhere, really. I mean there's no real pay off or climax to these songs. It's like having sex with someone and then right when things get good, you magically go limp and you start from the beginning again. Repeat repeat repeat.

"wanking"
lmfao what is that? what does that even mean?
im dead
|

no like... "wanking"
what the hell even is that? is it a place? an object? a position? a type of cereal?
imlost

Listen to 'Swim to the Moon' to see what wanking is.

God that was a horrible record 'The Great Misdirect' fucking awful.
|

but...that doesn't make sense either. You cannot swim to the Moon. I don't care if you're Superman, it isn't possible. Same with "wanking". It doesn't make any sense.
Sounds to me like you're living a lie.

Tbh i hated this on first listen. I even made a antihype soundoff about the length and how inconclusive all looks. I listen to it 2or 3 times and started to enjoy it more (so i deleted it). So lets wait for an automata II and see where it goes.

I haven't heard this yet, but I'm pretty sure it's WANK-TASTIC.
if that makes sense...
