To be fair, it's not exactly as if this is just some feminist jumping on a sensitivity train to New-Triggerville, she's been making music in this vein for over 6 years.

Also, getting raped, imagining the immense internal pain and suffering she went through, and what it must mean to her to express that in some form of primal catharsis to create this brutally vivid exorcism of her frustration... That's metal as fuck, regardless.

People looking to jump on bandwagons do it for attention, and there's not much attention to be had in the metal scene, so it can hardly be considered opportunistic. I really don't agree this was influenced by any modern feminist movement, either, considering there's no real feminism in her music - hating on a man that raped and projecting that hatred and fear onto other men doesn't make you a feminist - it makes you a scared person who has a lot of anger.

Yeah if only she had sat on this record and waited for these inconsiderate sexual abuse victims to clear the way huh. So selfish.

well said dimorphic.

it blows my mind that someone can say something totally off base and then get mad at people, calling them triggered/snowflakes/etc., just because they got corrected. who’s getting upset, the guy claiming this is first world problems, a display of too much sensitivity, and calling people triggered? or the people just saying “no, what you said about this person is wrong.”

Being a popular member of any community is a tiring event, you make a low-effort comment and all of a sudden you're having your integrity questioned in front of all your bros, so you instinctively go on the defensive. However, even this presents problems! Because now you're seen as a human who is capable of not being the 'most immersed' or 'most knowledgeable' in all aspects. Hell, maybe even you'll blow your cool and show the ugly side of humanity that we all possess deep down inside - AKA dismissiveness, rudeness, and deflection. Gotta keep that off Facebook, amirite!

Having said that, though... Yh, dude was in the wrong on this one. We're all guilty on occasion, and this is his turn. It's cool. We'll all use it as a learning experience and hug it out later.

I maintain that the amount of emotional pain that was put into this album turns me on.

"For I am the light

And mine is the only way

Be silent

Understand

Each breath you draw is mine

Each fingertip is mine

Each strand of hair is mine

And all things begin and end with me

For I am the light

I am the light

And my hands take hold on justice

And my feet go down to death

Swift is the stroke of my hammer

And I repay evil with evil

For I am the light

And mine is the only way now

And all things end with me"

I heard this yesterday for the first time on my way to work. Finished it up at work and went out to buy the LP at lunch. Had a very profound impact on me. Hit me just right. Not sure I've ever had it happen like that.
