And that wasn't meant as an accusation or anything, I critique and rate genres that I have less familiarity in than you do in folk. I'm just glad you got something out of this record, in some shape or form. Not everything has to be a 5. It's cool you checked it.

Digging: Ben Howard - Noonday Dream

recently found out that Doof 5d this year's Mark Renner compilation, which essentially tells me that it contains all the folk education I need, as well as the might of celestial gods from the lizard planet of cannibalistic oily virgin virgin-oils

Imo, the last 2 songs are the worst of the album

Opener is one of my favorites, and definitely the one that gets stuck in my head the most. Contrails and High Beams are also still highlights for me

I was listening this morning and I actually thought the final track was the best. It took some time but it's my new favorite.

Certainly. The weird thing is, for now homogenous it sounds, I still hear something new with each listen.

I sort of think this is boring and I'm being generous score-wise even though it's kind of pretty

Listening to this now. Landmarks and Golden October are the initial highlights. Gorgeous tunes.

Yep, I pretty much agree with the criticism that it's a little too homogeneous and not a lot really stood out on first listen but I liked it. A light 3.5 on first listen.

I actually agree with JS19, after two listens this is between 2.5 and 3... What am I missing?

Agreed with ProjectFreak. The atmosphere is just breathtaking across the board, even if there's nothing spectacular about the songwriting or super catchy about the melodies.
