Acad: The song The Story is amazing, one of her best, but the album The Story, while good, is pretty overappreciated relative to the rest of her discog. She had too much of a pop rock thing going at that point for my taste; everything she’s done since feels more natural to me.

Nice review Boney, I agree that this is more even than previous efforts--and that's a very good thing. The title track is my favorite at the moment, but I can hear others creeping up on me. I wouldn't be surprised if this grew into a 4.5 before very long.

Thanks Twig. I'm really happy to see the positive reception this is getting. I remember when I first joined the site her previous album wasn't even in the database despite having been out for several months - accordingly it was one of the very first albums I ever added to the database! It's really nice seeing Brandi get some wider exposure - even getting a review from p4k, albeit a mixed one.
I've got tickets to see her in a few months and I'm stoked - saw her set at the Newport Folk Festival a few years ago and it was stunning so I have high hopes.

yeah, I wonder if I would know her if it wasn't for "The Story." That song kicked my ass the first time I heard it, been following her ever since . . . This album sounds like it will play well live. That show is gonna be great.
