I guess I can't pin point a specific artist but I feel like I've heard this sound done before a thousand times over. I got the impression that, after listening to this, I wasn't quite sure who the band were. You can't pin point a unique fingerprint. It's exactly what Poly was saying on the first few pages of this thread. They put off one mask only to put on another.

To me it reminds me of No Devolucion-era Thursday. But both this and No Devolucion are bops so. And while neither of the bands are similar I can’t help but hear similarities in the vocals

Yeah this definitely has its own unique personality like the rest of MGMT's stuff, plus songwriting is clutch. So many sticky bass grooves and psych jams.

fuckin i can hardly get behind the new wave of new wave music but I maintain tracks like "TSLAMP" and the title track of this in particular are so special and unlike anything else I've heard in a long while. Huge props to MGMT for making an album thats so much more than just not-bland-synthpop-fodder
