Nice to hear Karin and Olaf together again, seems a bit arbitrary to keep the new album under the Fever Ray moniker lol

Nvm I was under the impression that Olaf wrote the entire album with her but maybe just three songs

"Nvm I was under the impression that Olaf wrote the entire album with her but maybe just three songs"
I've yet to hear the new song, but I massively dug the first two off the new one, and they don't feature him. He's a guest musician on (a/several?) track[s], but great for a bonus Knife reunion.

^he is on two of the three new ones. What They Call Us and Kandy.
Kandy is my favourite so far. Carbon Dioxide is the most immediate but Kandy grows and the music video really elevates it. It’s like Pass This On 2023

Very very interested to hear the stuff with Trent reznor and Atticus ross

Ah, didn't know he featured on that one... their hit rate (be it solo or together) is colossal.

Kandy was the most immediate by far, for me. Haven’t seen the music video yet but I’m reluctant to after how extremely bad their video was for Full of Fire

I wish the new album cover was better, but Karin looks like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror Picture Show on it

It’s giving tales from the crypt
But really watch the Kandy vid Ars, you might appreciate the new costume after
It’s basically a modernization of their Pass This On video, but through the lens of Karin’s coming out and further exploration of gender expression and politics evidenced in Shaking the Habitual and more dramatically personified on Plunge.
|
| |
Yeah Idk, as much as I love watching strangers peeing on the street, it just didn’t do it for me.
|
| |
I’m not hearing the Pass This On comparison at all. Or are you referring to the videos?
Edit: nvm just read your reply to Ars
|

I’m not really about to get into the myriad of ways that you selectively pointing out a particular disdain for an explicitly queer music video from 10 years ago discounts an appreciation for any of a decades worth of proceeding material from an entirely distinct project leaves a bad taste in my mouth given your controversial history on this site.
Why even mention that if you are trying to move on?
|
| |
Hypothetical question btw, im severely not interested in discussing it, I know how this goes.
|
| |
Why even point out it’s queer? What relevance does that have to anything? Are you legitimately insinuating my comment about disliking a music video is homophobic or something? It was the last music video I saw by The Knife and I’ve seen none from Fever Ray. I’ve never particularly cared for their music videos and they seemed to get worse over time. Are you bipolar or something? Last time I interacted with you was very chill but you seem to just randomly go off on people over nothing

Revisiting this and it’s just so much better than Radical Romantics
|

Definitely, but New Utensils and Kandy are top tier Fever Ray tracks
