I can see why... I'll definitely be listening to this again.

Great comments here on page one, LOL
Not really interested in this release. I've had an Anathema overload the last couple of years, I ignored the last two albums because of this.

Already spun this well over ten times, ‘The Optimist’ was good an’ all but it didn’t grab me like this has.

I wish I could agree. I tried this again and arguably hated it even more

Its definitely less polished, I get why some Anathema fans won’t like this.

The emotion shone through on this where, if I’m honest, I get barely any emotional resonance from the band on the last two full Anathema albums.

Deserved feature. I still prefer The Optimist but I love we actually have this as contrast.

I like ‘The Optimist’ a lot but this thing of repeating the same melodic motif on a number of songs on the one album has got a little uninspired. ‘San Francisco’ in particular is nice on its own but listened to after the previous two songs it’s a little pointless/overkill.

The past couple of anathema albums haven't been adventurous. Especially when you consider how the band used to evolve on pretty much every album until weather systems

a couple take-'em-or-leave-'em tracks on here but the good ones are great. I'm not the biggest Anathema fan though I did think the last two were decent and this provides a really good point of contrast to The Optimist

Doof is spot on with his comment about the repetetive nature of a lot of the songs on the last couple of Anthema albums, annoys the shit out of me.

Yep, that's Anathema's biggest issue. They're a very talented band but way too much into their own comfort zone. I've only listened to 2 songs off this album, but it just sounds like Anathema to me. Kinda burnt out on this sound.

And god damn that fucking album cover.

"Alright Danny smi--"

*SHART*

"Fuck sorry can we re-take it?"

"Nah, don't worry about it, we'll just put some starlit backdrop. Nobody will know you have leaky caca pants:

Couldn't be less interested in hearing another Anathema record, let alone a solo record, but great review nonetheless.

Well-deserved feature. First listening didn't do much for me though. Will try it again when I'm in another mood, but just now it seemed uneventful to the extent of feeling empty to me.

Don't go into this expecting 'epic', go in wanting 'intimate' and I think it delivers.

Well it does for me anyway.

And I said it before and I will say it again:

Fans of The Gathering, rejoice.
