I mean the fact this is titled colors is an instant shit gripper but lay it out straight to me dudes is this rubbish or worth a spin? (I loved WOW, thought it was the best tune this bloke has done in years)

Anyway Doof, well-written review as usual (as if you could do anything else). Maybe a tad too much preamble and a bit light on explicit details but the nature of this review is that it's highly reactionary so I get that. I don't know why people are so bent backwards about this, it's not like you have it out for Beck and were always going to hate this and you make that fact very clear in the review itself.

I don't listen to enough 2017 music to have an album of the year, but my 5 tries to find a good rip of Perfume Genius's No Shape seem to make the number lower than intended

Also "Up All Night" is really starting to go from pretty good to amazing on 5th listen

The rest of the album never really gets to the level that WOW is at if you like that quirky synthpop shit, but its alright.

As a pop album this is actually quite good. Nothing out of the ordinary, could get a better fix from latest MSP or The 1975 album or Marina and the Diamonds but it's solid. It'd be a lot better if it wasn't Beck singing tho. Entire album sounds like Beck doing karaoke of other pop artists' songs and the opener is legitimately 1/5 territory

Wow and I’m So Free are my least favorites but they aren’t bad. Album is almost too consistent, would’ve been nice to have a little more variety. This basically sounds like a compilation of pop rock singles over an artist’s whole career.
