gosh darn Saturnalia has grown on me massively, probably my favourite here now

Still really disappointed in this album after The Pale Emperor.
Kill4Me is fun and the title track is really good. Saturnalia and Threats of Romance are pretty good too. Other than that, it pales in comparison. HAH.

by the way how is this guy gothic again (goth music, I mean) besides his appearance? His music is industrial rock and always has been. Industrial metal in his earlier albums.
By the way to say Bauhaus are similar artists is very very sad. Bauhaus are artistically superior to Manson in every way. Manson is a shock rocker. No substance.

"Manson is a shock rocker. No substance."
You've obviously brushed over the Triptych trilogy then.

I've listened to every album he's ever made. Can you point out a lyric or artistic statement he's made where it was intelligent and thoughtful instead of trying to provoke? Can you name one song of his that wasn't trying to shallowly attack religion or society in juvenile ways?
I really doubt anybody in this thread can.
The only song (the ONLY single song I've ever heard) from him where it has some sense of depth is the song 'Coma White' and even in that, in the music video he mocks religion (posing as Jesus in some scenes) and plays on the JFK assassination so it still ends up being edgy and empty. Empty symbolism with no intelligence and thought put into it.

"Empty symbolism with no intelligence and thought put into it."
Or maybe you just didn't like what he had to say or how he said it. Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood had plenty of thought put into them. Both musically and lyrically. If you got nothing but provocation out of those albums... that's on you and your own sensibilities.

How is he shallowly attacking religion or society in a juvenile way? It's all delivered in an accessible manner, sure, but it's not like what he's saying is contrived. I thought his themes on Celebritism were pretty good on Holy Wood, but he has tapped into loads of provoking topics in his early days -- again, all done in an accessible format. Latter day Mason lyrics are a different story (this album in particular), but his early work is well thought-out.

I want to like this more but its just all over the place stylistically like it cant decide whether to be a heavy album like Antichrist Superstar or a dancy electronic album. Also Manson's lyrics here are cringier than usual

This isn’t great or anything but I actually prefer it to The Pale Emperor.
