'the guy who fundamentally misunderstands the entire genre'
Usually it's the dudes at the centre of the storm who don't know what's up in my experience.

Listened to the first three tracks and they were some seriously wanky stuff, no thank you.
This isn't just cheesy like Linkin Park, it actually sounds like them.
I hope this makes some good money though as it's contributing to a good cause.

Yeah, I'm obviously supportive of the cause, my boss is actually involved in mental health as a sideline at work and so I've read a lot of stuff about it thanks to her, plus had a lot of chats about it. I work with one of my closest friends in the same team and he suffers social anxiety a lot. The stigma is disappearing which is great as, let's face it, everyone has some sort of mental health issues at some point of their life.
This album is just too 'on the nose' about it all for me, but I'm not saying people shouldn't enjoy it of course.

Guess I won't be reviewing this, awesome
Wank is also the absolute wrong word and a stupid catch-all
Not sure why you listened to this Doof

please still review it my man, we might get a less toxic thread evenn

This is pretty great, wish ALLB had gone in this direction instead of DIVISI.

This brand of whiny and cheesy post-hardcore is hard to take seriously. Doof is right that it's as juvenile as any nu metal the site looks down on, only difference is this has "authenticity" on its side.

Doof doesn't know shit about the genre. Musicianship is entirely different. Lyrics are cliche yeah but you can tell they're not by a garden variety nu metal group.
People are trying to make this release pretentious and it's hilarious. But whatever fuck any lyrics that aren't by the National right

I don't know a shit tonne about the genre but I've heard enough to have an opinion.
Musicianship in nu metal wasn't always poor quality, I don't understand that argument :/
The genres are way more similar than some here would care to admit imo

Quite commercial, quite whiny, similar lyrical concerns, primarily marketed to butt hurt teenagers - need more?

No, you thankfully confirmed how little you know, so that'll do.
|
| |
how on earth do you know this was "primarily marketed to butt hurt teenagers", doof? and you're gonna need to be more specific when you say "commercial"

Because that's 90% who'll listen to it? Who else is going to listen to three potato heads screaming at each other pretending to be different elements of someone's psychosis?
Emo 'cleans' always sound highly marketable and cheesy to me.
It's fine, this album isn't for me, let's move on, I've already said some of the musicianship is actually ok. What more you want?

tfw you trivialise anxiety as butthurt but also wanna play the sympathy card cos you knew a guy with anxiety once so you're an expert

Row I diagnose you're behaving like a big baby
You're making some strange jumps of logic
You are the one who accused me of not being 'normal' and Sach said I was ''senile'
I've actually said nothing negative about mental health, being butt hurt isn't a mental condition as far as I know :/
|
| |
Smart move by the band to latch onto serious topics like these as a protective shield. Now anyone who criticizes or mocks their conceptual approach is "trivializing" mental health issues.
|
| |
lucid that is wildly cynical i am disappoint
