Yup, From Afar showed them drifting away from the good old Ensiferum, but still had some great songs: Heathen Throne, Elusive Reaches, Smoking Ruins, The Longest Journey .. However it also presented this fucking "party metal" side of the band which became their go to thing since then.

There's nothing underrated about Ensiferum's first two album, and their following two are worthy of a decent amount of respect as well (From Afar far more so, in my opinion). But this album is a joke. It's a disgrace. It's offensive. It's embarrassing for the metal community. I've written the following words a few times before in response to bands who beging to reliably churn out absolute shit, but I have never meant it more than I have with Ensiferum: THIS BAND NEEDS TO DIE ALREADY.

Agreed, this album is boring as fuck. I don't really have a desire to listen to it for a second time. And Everything up until, and including From Afar was fucking awesome. After that...meehhhhh

This reminds me of a really shitty/non epic version of Sagas.

Like the clean vox on this album are the most hilariously bad clean vox I've ever heard I think.

Look, as someone who really liked their last effort - what the fuck are they doing here?

And who is that pirate man trying to sing

The self titled is one of the most fun metal albums ever imo. This is not.

And Raven, their last album wasn't terrible agreed, but it was not Ensiferum, Iron, Victory Songs or From Afar

Was thinking about this today and was trying to figure out which songs off the last 3 albums were actually good. Only 4 came to mind and none of them is on this record.

This was embarrassingly bad and genuinely painful to listen to.

I'm not sure which, of the western non-sense they displayed previously or this fourth-wall thing they're doing now, is the worst though... They've really outdone themselves to sink to the lowest levels. Shame.

Thanks god that Enslaved's new album came shortly after this released to make me forget whatever this is entirely
