I can see that. Strangely enough, I can even hear some of those seeds starting as far back as TROUBLE WILL FIND ME and HIGH VIOLET, but I don't find those renditions nearly as tiresome as I do on I AM EASY TO FIND. I have a hard time articulating exactly why, however. Songs like "Runaway," "London," "Slipped," and "Heavenfaced" all point to I AM EASY TO FIND to various extents, in my opinion, yet I love all of those songs.

Yeah I can see that re HV/TWF, a lot of the additional elements you hear in the instrumentation are so subtle and seamlessly incorporated that unless you’re specifically looking for them, you don’t always notice them (at least I didn’t at first).

Later on the arty orchestral flourishes became that much more noticeable, to the point of ruining what the band was previously about (for me personally).

It's that time again. Time to heavily play (almost) the entire discography of this amazing band.

And the decline in quality came after this one. This one is still fantastic.

Definitely not (that title goes to Alligator or TWFM), but it’s of course still amazing in that department too.
