The Brian era has plenty of good songs in its own right, but they were much better at the slow-grind numbers with Bon. With Brian they went with more explicitly straightforward stuff and left some of the blues influence behind - probably because Brian doesn't have the range Bon did, and can't quite pull that style of song off as well as Bon could.

I think they did get lazy to be honest. Take a song like Riff Raff, they just don't rock as hard with Johnson

edit: not saying they got necessarily bad, as I find cuts to defend even from albums like Blow Up Your Video

They got lazy, but not all the time. They got lazy directly after each of their three 'revival' albums (BiB and Razors' Edge and Stiff Upper Lip) resulting in their weakest albums. Flick of the Switch excepted, we have FTATR, Fly and Video in the 80s, Ballbreaker in the 90s, then Black Ice and Rock or Bust in the 2000s. Fortunately, they bounced back each time with solid (Lip, Power Up) to very good (Razors) albums.

"they just don't rock as hard with Johnson"

Of course they changed with Johnson. Bon was their driving force. His lyrics fueled the sound. His voice was like gasoline pouring over a fire. His attitude and outlandish personality was the pinion wheel that made the other guys play sleazy music. He had made some time in jail, too. Bon was a big influence, probably the biggest in the band's earlier sound. People too oft underestimate the impact he had on his team-mates.

A meme my wife saw online today:

"Due to rising costs, dirty deeds can no longer be done dirt cheap. We apologize for the inconvenience."

discog walk; an old fav vinyl of one of my high school friend back in early 80s. Nice memories, fun album. Listened on the quality remastered 1995 Albert version. T/t is one of the funniest one ever, love it, "Ride On" ,such a great blues rock piece.

Nice, been too long since I jammed this one in its entirety. Need to change that, actually.

Absolutely. Bon Scott-AC/DC were for a couple of years my favorite band and there are a few Brian Johnson albums that I still love.
