I don't have like, a grand statement to make about he deserves and whatnot but I will say the "apology" he put out during the whole fiasco was the nail in the coffin for me-it was self-pitying wank in which he implied the claims were true while not once really taking blame/responsibility. It was just so cowardly and transparent to me

If you send dick pics to a 15 year old you don't deserve to have any sort of presence as a celebrity on any level, especially when it would put him back in the same position to do the exact same thing to someone else. (this is a super roundabout answer that's probably too sincere for this site but) I think the root of my frustration in Jesse's case and in a lot of similar cases is a lack of accountability or consequence. It's not like I need to see Jesse take 40 lashes for being awful, it's that I want to see a legal and cultural system that doesn't look at what Jesse did and shrug. I'd like to see Jesse make an actual honest apology, not a PR apology (his 2017 apology said something vague about sex addiction but didn't admit to preying on minors). I'd like to see not just that he's sorry that he's caught, but that he's sorry he did it and will help the groups affected by such actions (including but not limited to financial aid). And if he isn't willing to do that, that implies very strongly that he's not actually sorry, and that should lead to his effective blacklisting.

I understand that people are mad he didn’t take to Facebook to say “sorry I sent nudes and groomed a minor”, because I know a full and honest apology feels good, but try to understand that by doing so he would be immediately incriminating himself and suddenly 40 Jesse with wife and children would be effectively sending himself to jail for something 23 year old Jesse did. Dismantling your current life for something that happened a generation ago is simply not realistic. If we were talking about rape or murder, then sure. Needless to say, that’s not what we’re talking about.
Also now that I’m caught up with these comments, the new garbage take here is that if you find out your best friend did some really shitty stuff 15 years ago you’re supposed to completely abandon him or else you are now a shitty person. Nah. Absolute garbage. Help your friends if they need it and try to bring out the best in them
