"To be wanted with truth
And make formidable love
See light in myself
That I see inside everyone else I know"

"Kalkwiese this album has amazing lyrics but you highlighted one of the worst lines lol"
idk, I just like it. it's a bit silly, but I always picture him singing it with a smile, if that makes sense

Song was very safe and I kept waiting for it to go up a notch in intensity.
Hope the rest of the record isn't them parodying this record.

It's a good song, but hardly an exciting single. It may be more fitting in the album context, but it's not the best first impression

I personally love it, feels like a refinement
Definitely sounds like it'll work better in context too

unfortunately Dave really makes it sound like this is a one-off single and they're not starting an album release :/
it's a good song tho

What’s your source on that Rowan? The radio interview? Haven’t listened yet but that’s a bummer. They’ve been hyping the release so much it definitely seemed like the start of an album cycle?

yeah the radio interview seemed pretty unambiguous:
"So this song, "the angel of 8th ave.," I started writing this about four years ago and we've done 15 versions of it. It's probably the only song that you'll hear from us from now that sounds remotely kind of what we sounded like the previous kind of six to eight years that's intriguing. I mean, part of that's by design. I think part of it just out of necessity, obviously, because Joji moved back to Sydney, started his record label and do his thing and he was actually the guy who insisted that we hire Tom. So it was kind of like he left and we're like, we have to kind of reassess how we go about making a sound and being a band and whatever."
As for when we're getting a new album, Dave said, "It's done because the caveat is nothing with me, as Tom [Hobden] has found out in the two years, nothing with me is ever done. We actually scrapped the album twice and restarted." Tom added, "It's ready when it's ready. You know, I'm not, I'm not gonna rush it."
I really hope they throw us a Let Me Be Clear-style EP in the meantime at least, if they're still making the album for the third time or whatever

this probably means the next album is going to sound NOTHING like the first two

They lost their guitarist and that means they're sound is gonna change fundamentally. The new song was the song that sounded the most alike to their older material.
I'm open to it, but I loved their guitarwork. Finger crossed it's gonna be good

There really wasn't much that stood out with the guitarwork tbh. Was a "more than the sum of its parts" thing.

Oh well. I enjoyed it though and thought it made their sound quite dynamic. Curious why they couldn't replace their player then.
So, is there gonna be an album or not?
