that threat doesn't exactly do much when it already has a neg
and even if you think this sucks and you love LTIY (I assume that's the reason?), in the end I could just turn people who haven't heard that record onto it, so I fail to see the problem here

Yeah this really blends a lot of sounds from Devil & God and Daisy really well while being its own thing. I also heard a lot of late 90s/early 2000s Modest Mouse at times. Your explanation for including Leaves makes sense.
I think my least favorites on here are Can't Get it Out, Waste, Desert, and No Control.

Never heard this. The issue is that people are going to low rate LTIY because the singer mumbles and the album isn't produced expensively

least favs are easily Waste and Desert. No Control's ending is fantastic which excuses its lackluster start

ok i'm on song 5, two questions: 1. why the fuck are the song transitions so half-assed, this band is super popular and they can't produce a record without such rookie mistakes, they're not even rookie mistakes, that's just some fucking stupid slacker working on this record 2. is that the dude from modest mouse on same logic blabla? if yes, then why is he screaming on a brand new song and not on his own shit
|
| |
this better have more songs like same logic blabla in the 2nd half
|
| |
oh hey what is this a new gospel song you got a cigarette man

damn, surprised at the lack of love for "Waste," it's easily one of the strongest here for me. The chorus packs such a dense, creepy wallop that the record doesn't really get from the first two songs
@ cosmo: Agreed some of the song transitions are kinda poor, but I almost like how instead of trying to smush them together, they allow each track breathing room. Some work better than others, but it's increasingly less of a nuisance with repeat listens imo. Also I'm 99% sure that's BN's guitarist Vin on the low voice of "Same Logic," not Isaac.

Out of Mana has some pretty terrible lyrics

Out of Mana has very un-Brand New lyrics, for sure. Only line that I'm not fond of is the "weeknights at the gym" one though, just feels so out of place on this

Feather and Ash I still really like the four songs I mentioned, Waste being the best of the four.
|

This has a grunge track? Hard pass
|
| |
there's literally no songs like same logic in the 2nd half
|
| |
i'm writing a review that won't be approved to show how much i'm disappointed by that fact

I'm a simple man, and I love the straight-forward rock n' roll of "451."
