but yeah to be fair gyro i am 15 so there's not much i can do to counter that, your criticism is fairly valid. can you give some examples of what really stuck out to you as childish/hyperbolic??

when i was around your age i adopted a similar kind of writing style, but it comes across as incredibly cheesy. i would say just continue to write, perhaps from more of a conversational angle. i can give you examples after, but for now, it's time for game of thrones!

One listen and it was pretty good but not seeing the "HOLY FUCK THIS IS A 5 , NO WAIT THIS IS BEST BRAND NEW ALBUM OF ALL TIME, NO WAIT THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME" hype

thanks for the criticism gyro, will take into consideration. if you read some of my other reviews i take a more conversational tone, but if it's for an album of a much higher scale akin to this one, i tend to be more conceptual if that makes sense

I've been waiting for this album for 8 years, first listen clearly hasn't hit me as hard as for some people but it seems like a grower.

I never thought that new album was better than a 'solid one', this is really a shock for me

Why did I expect this to not be the biggest album on sputnik this year.

Also,I would like to thanks props for having the balls to review something as prolific as Brand New. The review was fairly good, although perhaps a bit too "massive". I also have a terrible fucking attention span though so take that as you will.

My initial rating was a hype 5, but the more I listen to this the more I realize that it's an objective 5

The new thrice was a joke

- the intro is, as mentioned, trite. the whole point of the intro is to associate brand new's approach to their record with a sense of inevitability. you could have articulated it more gracefully and convincingly; but, instead you chose a really cliche "death is inevitable. damn." angle that you don't really tie into the album later on, so it's a bad choice.

- "4 albums have started leaning closer and closer to becoming classics of not only the generation, but in music as a whole"
maybe if you're a sputnik stan. brand new don't have the breadth many of you seem to think. they're popular for sure, but "classics in music as a whole"? no, not really.

- i don't see the point in the oasis comparison. so... sometimes bands lose momentum? incredibly banal point that isn't really worth mentioning unless you're willing to unpack it more. not to mention the conditions of the space between oasis releasing those albums and brand new releasing this subsequent to daisy are entirely different.

- did you just discover the word "fickle" today? you're overdoing it, as the first three paras all start with it.

- "But hope is such a fickle topic on its own as well. In a world where negativity and constant loss of hope wander among us to the point that as humans we barely realize how consistent that hopeless wandering is The idea of a new album started to wander the same exact path."
ok... are you actually equating the grande hopelessness of the human condition with the tentative hopelessness that a new Brand New album might not be as good as TDAG? seriously?

(for starters)
