Rowan where did you hear God is in the Wicked? I googled it and didn't find anything...

@Sowing it came out through their patreon, they're dropping Sinful Math a few songs at a time, or the whole thing is gonna come out on vinyl probably next year

This for me is more fuel for the counter that 'going soft' in of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. All depends on execution.

I'm a huge fan but I'm not paying a monthly fee. I'll just have to wait for the music to come out.

I knew nothing about this pantheon thing until you two just brought it up.. I am considering but that is A LOT of money.

The Alien - Sunshine - Grocery medley is just the best ever. The number of incredible vocal melodies in that stretch alone is unbelievable.

I will say though, I adore this album but I really don't care about the lyrics that much. There are some cool lines but it's the compositions and the instrumental performances (esp from Hull) that make this

The lyrics wouldn't have the same punch without the powerful arrangements but they're still wonderful IMO. Up to or exceeding Hull's usual standards.

Lyrics in Alien are stellar. But the melody really makes it work yeah

The lyrics to The Silence are some of my favorite in all of modern indie rock

Indie Rock album of the decade no doubts...

I personally add the postpunk album from Protomartyr - Relatives In Descent and the indie (nonrock) one Carrie&Lowel.

Decided against Pantheon. Thats a lot of money for an album that will eventually drop.

Absolutely. And the transitions are pretty mind blowing — the whole album in general, but especially the transitions of that trio.

I still think Simple Math edges this out a little and is a pretty close contender for indie rock of the decade. The Dark, Dark Bright still claims that spot for me, though.

Simple Math is a classic too but this has a little more of that emotional gusto that made me fall in love with the band to begin with. Simple Math is a little more finesse. They're both gorgeous.

Love SM but this is easily their masterwork. About as perfect as an album could be. SM has a few clunkers imo. Still a great album though.

Simple Math is a little more uneven than this, but the high points are soooo high. The title track on that album is absolutely devastating; I think only The Silence tops it

True, but I would argue that the high points here are even higher.
