Yes, The Mummy is awesome. A 90's Indiana Jones Flick.

"I watched Monkey Bone on Friday"
I'll make this next on the list then, just checked out the trailer and it looks insane lol
The Mummy Returns was actually fun too honestly, not as good as the first but it was definitely worth watching.

Funny you mention Returns, I tried to watch it last week, but just couldn't do it. The goofy factor is up to 11 on it, and that kid kills what's left of it. haha
Dunno, I feel they got the horror/adventure/comedy ratio perfect on the first; the sequel just feels like a studio-forced job, where they tried to draw kids in -- or everyone for that matter-- and it loses the unique tone this one had.

Oh man that kid should get an award for least believable child actor, I wonder who's grandson or nephew he was. Weirdly he didn't spoil it for me, I guess the rest of the movie is so relaxed he didn't feel that out of place haha.
But yeah I agree it's nowhere near as good as the first but I still had fun. Bizzarely the storyline is basically the same and the little "nods" also don't help it feel like its own thing. Ah well, all things considered I actually quite liked it.

Glad you liked it at least, man.
I started watching the third one couple of days ago, but for some reason I didn't watch it all. haha Need to get it finished to have a full opinion.

The first is such a fun time, I too have probably watched it several times over. The original Star Wars movies are among the very few that I've probably watched about as much, if not more. Mask of Zorro, too.
The second is definitely inferior, but I still get nostalgic while watching it, so it's still fun for me. I started watching the third when it hit DVD and turned it off when we're (re)introduced to his son. Between that and the actress replacing Weisz, I just couldn't bring myself to turn the viewing experience into an endurance test.

I'm currently watching the third now and it is truly dire. The actress taking over Rachel Weisz is fucking awful.
|
| |
Oh yeah I forgot they fuckin' replaced her
|
| |
I want say she dropped out of doing future Mummy movies on her own accord, but the rest of the standing cast were up for future installments so... yeah
|
| |
But the third has Jet Li the fire-breathing ninja mummy

That's gold, Jerry! Gold!

Everyone looked miserable in it. lol But she was truly awful in it; she was just ott with everything she did and her accent was terrible.

Love the fact Jet Li is in it about 15 minutes, and the rest of him is bad CGi.

C'mon man
It's terrible CGI

I stand corrected, it is indeed.
It's a shame they rebooted the name, because a rethink with Brendan would have been cool.

Just noticed this review in the Jerry Goldsmith category (added a few soundtracks).
Great write up! Total Recall (1990), The Burbs and Alien are his finest hour! He basically tells a story with his orchestrating which I guess to state the obvious is their primary job as a score producer.
