Paper Airplanes and This Celluloid Dream are the two best songs these guys ever wrote and they ate making them back-to-back on Sing the Sorrow.

Bleed Black, The Great Disappointment and buthomeisnowhere are also up there. I wish they ever properly followed up on that album

I mean I'd say just about every song on StS is a 10/10 and those three absolutely are in that group. My love for that album is why this one was so disappointing for me when it released but it's not totally fair to expect perfection from them every time.

such an inconsistent mess of an album but its highs are so good that it ends up kinda compelling anyway. pretty much all of its b sides woulda made the album better tho

yeah the stuff they left on the cutting-room floor is a bit puzzling but at least we still got them

had more to do with the label than the band. pretty sure davey had been pushing for view from here and it kept getting rejected, wheras hes not a fan of summer shudder

I hated this album for a while when it dropped but over the years a lot of these songs have wormed their way into my psyche. The only tracks I skip are prelude and miss murder. I'm pretty fond of many songs on here

miss murder whips, cannot pretend that im above it
prelude, summer shudder, missing frame, and endlessly are where this kinda loses me, would plug those with on the arrow, rabbits are roadkill, fallen like the sky and view from here respectively

Miseria Cantare blew my little tween mind, going from that to Prelude was ROUGH. I'm pretty sure I threw the CD out the window

It's so crazy to me when people say this is their fav AFI album. People probably feel similarly about Sing the Sorrow. I'm sure there's even jabronis who think answer that and stay fashionable was their peak lol (it wasn't). But I think whatever you hear first, that hits for you, will always have a special place in your heart. For me that's Black Sails. But I truly love their run from that to Sing the Sorrow. This album was where I kinda... idk. Over the years tho this album really grew on me. I don't love every track but it has some serious bangers on it. AFI fucking rules. Stoked that they've been able to have so much longevity.
Too long didn't read: I like AFI

I also think Prelude mostly sucks and it's almost disrespectful to even mention it in the same breath at Miseria Cantare. I won't stand for any Summer Shudder slander on here though. That's probably my favorite song on this album.
