solid album but a little disappointing. lyrics are weak and the "diet Sikth" comparisons are pretty accurate.

there's no way it was ever going to be as good as their first two though

opacities was proof enough of that

I thought they'd really miss Justin but I'm enjoying this a lot.

I disagree. Opacities was a very solid return, with every ounce of their signature sound intact. It had that kinetic quality to it that I feel like this just kind of lacks for the most part. It's an odd transition to be sure, going from that to this.

Pretty sure Goodman is NOT the main songwriter, but lyricist for sure. Dan Weller and Pin write the tunes.

This is pretty solid, but a far cry from the Sikth I know and love. Probably prefer Opacities to this overall.

But.....is there a "Part of the Friction" on this album? Or a "Where do we fall" -type? Or even a "Peep Show"? I POSd for coherence and general reassurance that it was good, but I have no idea how the album sounds.

Bummed about Justin Hill. I don't know that he was super talented, but I absolutely loved his singing and his shrieks were such a great contrast to Mikee who can be a bit too much sometimes.

Then listen to the album to come to a conclusion whether you agree with what I said or not?

I've only heard of Opacities and I really can't tell that Justin is gone. I love Mikee's voice.

Justin was still with the band during Opacities, this new LP is the first release without him.

that's what I'm saying. Between this one and Opacities I see no difference.

Ok gotcha. I personally think Justin had stronger clean vocals than Joe, but that's not to say Joe is bad. He fits right into the SikTh sound in his own way.

Joe has a raspier voice I think. Justin's cleans were smooth.

I saw these dudes opening for Trivium last February. I might give this a look, they got an interesting style.
