Glad the average is evening out at around a 3.7 (: Just about what I'd rate it.

this has grown on me a bit, it's really pleasant but still kinda feels like mac is on autopilot for half of it

Yeah, I got that impression too. Still enjoyable for a lazy day in May, eh?

I really thought initially that he was mailing it in a bit, but this album only grows and grows and does ultimately present a really nice evolution for Mac.
And it's not the only one here, but man "Watching Him Fade Away" is a real tearjerker

I think the middle is kinda bogged down a bit (baby you're out, one another, sister, wolf are all kinda meh) but there are some tracks that he really capitalizes on the chill vibe of the album and executes ear catching melodies (dreams, one more love song, on the level, moonlight). My biggest complaint is that the album cover is the color of piss lol, but hey I guess its a mellow yellow
still like this more than salad days

Lol - very odd gripe with an album @nolerthebowler. Having said that, it's his first work without him on the cover. That threw me a bit, but great album cover and even better album. He's doing something right with the simplest of formulas, and I'm a Machead for sure.

Honestly I think I like Mac the person even more than his music. Someone once said I looked like him, not sure if that's a compliment tho... my prof pic is from the this old dog music video
and knowing mac he probably meant to make the album cover the color of piss lololol

i like mac more as a person too, although his music is pretty good.
and isn't he like a really common crush amongst alternative/artsy chicks? it might just be a good thing noler ahahhaha

nothing really bad about this its just a little boring and a number of songs come off as pointless

This is his best for me. I really dig the sound, the songwriting is strong, and it's tastefully arranged. Sure there are a couple throwaways but this definitely has the highest percentage of great material overall. Plus it has Moonlight on the River which is possibly his best song yet and hints at a potentially really interesting direction for him in the future.

this doesn't even touch 2, but Moonlight is indeed a stellar track, along with Dreams and One more love song
the sound on this album is very pleasing too you are right

2 has great highlights but it's a bit too insubstantial for me overall. I see why people enjoy it more than this though.

its one of my fav all time albums, lo-fi at its best

Lo-fi? That album has pretty high quality production values. Not quite as high as this though.

well the guitar he used on that album was apparently like 30 dollars and partially made of cardboard so I think that constitutes as lo-fi lol

That doesn't make it lo-fi production though. Listen to Ode to Viceroy then listen to an early Mountain Goats track and tell me which one is lo-fi.
