Some suggestions for those who like this album:
Art Blakey - The Witch Doctor
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue; Someday My Prince Will Come
Dave Brubeck - Time Out
Oliver Nelson - The Blues and the Abstract Truth
Monk can be a bit tough to digest for a new jazz listener. I'd try other jazz before diving into Monk's catalogue.
If you want to get into Miles' fusion period and are coming from rock, then I would start with Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow. If you like that, then go to Miles Davis' A Tribute to Jack Johnson. If that works for you, then move on to Bitches Brew, then return to In a Silent Way. Ease into it.

I have had the intro to Moanin' stuck in my head for weeks now...
Great album though, and great review.

hard bop besides Coltrane has yet to click with me as much as I'd like it to. I'm always into the first couple tracks then by the end of the album it all feels like a slurry of the same elements :/ just time needed I guess
