First time listening to the album, surprised I loved this as much as I did considering I was once really turned off by Gerards voice.

Helena is a great tune. I'm checking Black Parade right now for the first time.

Am I the only one that never really got into these guys even when I was in my emo phase? I never thought they were bad, per se, just not amazing. Currently spinning this to give it a fair shot because I haven’t in years. Basing off of Helena alone (which obviously isn’t fair or final) it’ll be about a 3.5
Edit: Just noticed The Ghost of You is on here. Forgot about that track, but it is honestly like a 4.5/5 Wow

Okay had enough of this haha. Helena, I’m Not Okay, and The Ghost of You are the highlights for me, with the third being By FAR the strongest track here. Nothing on the album is bad, except You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison was kind of annoying. Most of the material here is just incredibly forgettable, albeit decent background music.

This barely even grazes being emo, never got these guys being grouped into that genre. It's pretty much exactly as it's labeled pop punk with some alt-rock/post hardcore tendencies. I can't believe you find this forgettable Wonder, the amount of catchy hooks and passionate vocals bring a ton of memorability in my book. To each his own though!

Honestly, I couldn’t even explain why. The hooks just weren’t landing with me at all. I think the vocals could have been mixed a bit more prominently. That may have helped. I’m jamming Black Parade now to see how that one holds up. Only got up through Welcome to the Black Parade so far, but that album’s production sits better with me, and the vocals do seem a bit louder this time around. Basically a fine-tuned version of this album so far imo. Guess we’ll see!
As far as the emo comparison, I think it was mainly the lyrical themes and the band’s image. I wasn’t meaning to say I agree or disagree, was just referring to the stereotype of emo kids digging these guys. Or is that not really alive anymore? I know it was back in like 2010 yet haha

This was kinda poorly produced because this was their breakout record, so on Black Parade they had far better recourses

The music is well produced, but there is a weird effect on Gerard’s vocals sometimes

I’ve always loved Helena but never realized the rest of the album was just as good. Average for this is bullshit but I’m not surprised.

If you're into albums like Thursday's Full Collapse, I don't see how you wouldn't love Bullets.
