There's this vomiting inducing band called Short Stack in Australia which I somehow have seem to have assumed that Creeper shares similarities to (based on absolutely nothing except a rabid fanbase and some social media antics).

I will have to correct this by checking out the album.

Listening to this gave me mad MCR vibes. I like what I'm hearing so far.

I think it's because it's a nostalgia trip for some, it's been ages since a band from this scene have come out with a record that catches the flash in the pan that the punk scene was delivering 10-20 years ago. Not many punk bands in the current "Hot Topic" scene are delivering records of caliber with the likes of AFI, Alkaline Trio, Against Me!, MCR during their peaks and early years.

its just so much fun, too many bands now and days take themselves way too seriously and cant just unashamedly jam out

Eh I'd honestly argue the opposite, a lot of bands don't care enough, and have essentially sold themselves out as an image and a brand, and musically are incapable of living up to anything other than that, a scene fad. This album is fun, but the musics on point, the tracks here are diverse as hell, with straight punk tracks, operatic anthemic tracks to really solid ballads. And to top it all off, their image is hardly original but they kill it with their look, they have an identity, something many bands struggle to find, and although they borrow a lot from more successful bands like AFI, Alaklaine Trio, MCR, Against Me! etc none of those bands are competing with them in this newer music scene that really is a desert in terms of quality pop punk in this vein.

K. So. I thought this was Creepers (plural) and not Creeper. I have not heard this band. I saw Creepers open for Alcest. This has been bugging me since I commented yesterday about their sound.
