how does this measure up to inside room or watching from a distance?

where watching from a distance is more unabashed and soul crushing, this one is more introspective and nuanced. less direct. musically pretty similar if you don't take into account the lack of distortion - same soaring vocal melodies and slow pacing.

no distortion? so this is not at all in the doom style of watching from a distance?

the first time i heard (of the subgenre) down tempo literally was in reference to codeine and slowdive

and yeah anything with "core" in it rubs me wrong unless it's referencing hardcore a la minor threat or circle jerks etc

a bit of fuzzy overdrive but basically no, not doom metal. imagine the same mood and pace but played at an acoustic pace with the occasional fuzzy overdrive. think 'red house painters' or 'low'.

"no distortion?"

People need to understand, this is NOT a metal record. Various music resources label it as slowcore, atmospheric rock, post rock, etc. Call it what you like, but to me, it's just simply acoustic rock with a richer and more atmospheric background.

Gets a bit monotonous...songs sound the "same". Still enjoyable tho.
