I just keep telling myself that if All That Remains can correct course and release one of their best albums, then Unearth definitely can too.

it's got a couple duds, but it's a major return to form otherwise. Blood I Spill and Misery in Me have become some of my favorite ATR songs tbh

"Their earlier material is why."

? if anything, their earlier material is further from metalcore.

I wasn't really in to Vicitim from ATR but it did have a couple of decent songs, I guess. Def not something I would come back to, tho. Just gonna stick with Darkened Heart and Ideals when I get the urge for them.

This is probs the most core-y thing I have heard from DH so far.

Jason Richardson is with ATR now so at the very least we should hear a comeback of legit guitarwork on their next album. Victim was an okay album, but the songwriting still sucked ass compared to their best stuff. Oli really lost his touch over the years.

Victim was no Fall of Ideals, but it felt like the natural successor to For We Are Many which was their last good album before it.

Yup. Wonder when we'll hear something new from them. I would guess that some sort of announcement about their future will come this year.

These guys are definitely my favorite of this group of bands from the mid 00s

what group of bands, cause if youre lumping them in with mid 2000s metalcore like AILD, ATR, Killswitch, etc., im gonna have to put down a big fat "no".

I think they got a bad rep simply from being associated with those bands

At the same time, they didnt have breakdowns and shitty pop rock choruses, so the mid-2000s metalcore fans didnt really flock to them either. I feel like they just werent able to fit in with either crowd and that stunted their growth.
