Bassist Garcia just passed away at the age of 41. Bless him and his family.

Nobody should suddenly die at 41 and make everybody slightly nervous.
At least have a few weeks, dying from cancer or something.

A lot of this is so forgettable...

The bass player passing away 3 months after the release of the album is a shocking tragedy...
Jamming it now, pretty good album.

I just got into Grandaddy. Heard Sophtware Slump for the first time just the other day, which immediately overwhelmed me honestly, such a great opener. Come to find out they released an album this year.
This album very much reminds me of Sparklehorse, which definitely ain't a bad thing.

Boney please tell me you’ve listened to at least one Sparklehorse album.
Otherwise this is another War on Drugs moment.

They’re one of the best, and even if you’re not blown away by them personally, to be into alt country or 90s lo-if/alternative stuff - well, Linkous is an essential. I’d put him ahead of the Eels and more on the Will Oldham level of influence/importance.

Doof you'd be surprised how many of that ilk I haven't listened to yet. Elliott Smith is another that comes to mind. Rest assured they're in the list of artists I know I desperately need to get into.

Holy shit, you've not listened to Elliott Smith? Man, you gotta.
And yeah Sparklehorse is great. I wish both Mark and Elliott were still around to make music. A couple of my absolute favorites.
Also, East River Pipe, duly noted. Will check out for sure.
