Yeah I have no clue. This ended up being better than Mothership, and I already like it more than anything ALLB had put out before DIVISI. Supergroup indeed. Love me some Swan Noodling. Virtuosity in all instrumentals actually, underneath that melodic poppy singing I love so much. It's like listening to DGD without having to cringe or make it a guilty pleasure. And without John Mess' vocals.....I love the guy but I just do not like his screams.
So this is just about perfect.

But yea this was better than Mothership, Divisi by far, anything Hail the Sun has done, and Stolas. This is such a spectacular album, and brings out everybody's strengths

Stolas is another band I checked out when they first released material and then forgot about! I'm losing track of these guys. I tried Hail the Sun too, and I think I like their newer EP more than the LPs, but still better than DGD.
I do think Divisi is a killer album. A lot of people are comparing it to old ALLB and are a little pissed at Kurt leaving and them changing their sound. I think that new sound fits the remaining members very well. It's so passionate and catchy and bittersweet and just about perfect in my eyes. I wouldn't really compare it in the same field as DGD/HTS/these guys.
But yeah, this is just wonderful. I listened all the way through twice at work with one shitty earbud and it sort of floated by without notice. Then I got home and listened again with my good over-ears and suddenly I latched on to many more hooks and was able to differentiate the songs. Musically it's busy as fuck but it fits.

I also really like Donovan’s vocals. I’ll give anything he is involved with a proper listen. Green has some kind of inflection or something in his vocals that bothers me sometimes, Donovan seems to do them better imo
