Nice review, though it could be a little more 'about the music' but the context is pretty important it seems. Well written regardless. "the eponymous Mr. Rager" - I think you've used eponymous to mean the exact opposite of eponymous.
Really dig the feeling on this album, such a hazy experience.

eponymous because MOTMII was subtitled "The Legend of Mr. Rager"
and yeah the point I was trying to make was that the narrative of Cudi's depression/meltdown/comeback is much more important to the listening experience than the actual songs, if someone came into this album not knowing about all that I assume they would hate it. I didn't want the review to be long so I skipped the track by track part

there's a difference between context enhancing an artist's work and context as an essential component to an artist's work. if context is essential it's probably a sign the music by itself isn't that great.
lyrics, on the other hand, are a bit different

"eponymous because MOTMII was subtitled "The Legend of Mr. Rager""
Right but you're referencing the persona in the sentence, correct? So his persona (Mr. Rager) is not named after himself.
"if someone came into this album not knowing about all that I assume they would hate it"
Not to negate your point because it's a good one and would probably help this make more sense, but I honestly did come into it not knowing (and still mostly unaware) of Cudi as a person and his issues, I only know him for his music and I've gleaned a little but from reviews like this.

I brought up MOTMII in the previous sentence so I guess I thought it worked, you're probably right tho

I didnt realize this was recorded pre rehab. Makes a lot of sense. I still don't like it much though. Some of the beats were dope though.

Also, second read of your review makes me appreciate it way better. That last line is tops considering what the album is for Cudi himself, and I tend to feel the same way you do. Good stuff

damn shit's polarising. @brain I would argue though that the longer he let the shitstorm from Speedin Bullet play out the worse his reputation would get so why not hit back as soon as possible?

I can lower my rating if you'd like? Average isn't good. And this is very average. And yeah I get that completely, I just felt right after the rehab news he was already putting out a new one. so sudden

he recorded it pre-rehab and it just got delayed by him going there, he released it p much as soon as he get out cos, well, he'd been sitting on it for a few months at that point
