Definitely more serious this go around. It's still wacky by any other band's standards though.



Their signature "wack" has always given them their niche but their songwriting is why I've stuck around.

The only song for me that is "wacky" and I don't really get it is "Blah Blah" but besides that I think this might be their best release. Definitely one of my favorites from 2016.

Yeah the title alone had me rolling my eyes and preparing for the worst.

Don't get me wrong. Paolo (the vocalist) continues to improve on every album and some songs are definitely vocally amongst their best songs. But instrumentally the band seems to have lost their way. TKIFNO and AYKMN we're bursting with catchy hummable riffs. But The Chosen One (and this one) just aren't and it makes me sad because I love this band and want to love the new album.

I don’t know their previous stuff, so my focus is only on the new album, without contextualizing. I were an older fan, maybe I'd share your opinion, who knows? ;)

Trying to understand why I like this and the next album so much less than AYKMN. I think a big part for this album is the production. The production on that album wasn't perfect but it was HUGE. This feels so weak in comparison, I especially hate that guitar tone.
