talking about post-rock as a genre is fucking boring
|

I remember the first time hearing Ashes in the Snow, or The Only Moment We Were Alone, or Killing All the Flies ... those songs blew my mind, and sounded like pure aural beauty. Then there were a surge of post-rock bands that copied that style and completely over saturated the genre and now it's so hard to find original stuff in the cluster that it's become.

same with every genre. postrock fans just find saturation point quicker cause they consume all of it in an intense binge. you dont do that with other genres cause some vocalists dont appeal to everyone.

its stupid to slag off a genre when genres themselves are defined by arbitrary boundaries. its semantic and pointless to discuss.

pleasantly surprising, mono is as mono does isn't necessarily a bad thing

I make stupid posts all the time but the first post on this thread....wow...I'm half way through the title track and all I can say is this is boring as hell. I was wrong. I was wrong as fuck.

i thought this was quite low. a 3 average is surprising. The return to Albini was a great decision.

New song by Taka (guitarist) from his side-project "Behind the Shadow Drops". It's very Mogwai/SURVIVE-esque, I like it a lot:

Can't wait for the album.

no reason to be that harsh honestly.
are experimentation and change two must-have requirements for any band? No. MONO are doing their thing, if it's clearly not for you, move along

new song "after you comes the flood". sounds like what you expect a new mono song to sound like -- all rock instrumentation built around a single melody. though the energy of the song feels somewhat different to before as they have a new drummer.

“Listening to Mono is like losing your virginity: at first it's this amazing feeling and one you want to experience forever until you grow up and think back to how awkward and unmemorable it was.”
Cringeworthy writing.
