I just listened to Thirteen Autumns and a Widow. Quite a good track. I shall get this album. I prefer Danni's vocals in Nymphetamine, for some reason. Dunno why, though.

His vocals were a million times better on the early albums.

Do you really think his vocals are better on the more recent albums? They're still really good, but he can't reach the extremely high pitched vocals like he used to.

on the old stuff he could scream higher but he did it in the most utterly monotonous way to the point where: 1) lyrics could've been made up on the spot and no one would know the difference and 2) he was the exact opposite of romantic which was at least a partial impact he wanted to get across
nowadays he uses variation to the best of his abilities and it comes across much more honest rather than laughable, now all he needs to do is work on putting more emotion into his screams but I dont think he'll be able to since he does it different than other people

Thats a good point, but I still like his vocals on the earlier albums better. I do agree that it's better that he uses more variation on the newer stuff.

After a few listens, I can give this a 4.5. Quite a good album. Barthory Aria is amazing.

I would say Bathory Aria is their best song.

I'm starting to think that Dani's best vocal performance is on this album. I used to think it was on Dusk, but this is passing it up.

Personally, I love his performance in this one. It still amazes me how much did he last before his voice started to lose power. Cruelty Brought Three Orchids and Barthory Aria are the best of this album, IMO

I'm actually listening to Bathory Aria right now. Its definitely their best song to date. Thirteen Autumns and a Widow, Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids, and Beneath the Howling Stars are all tied for my second favorite song on this album. I love this album more and more every time I listen to it.

Personally my favorite, I've also given a few spins to Vempire since I downloaded it and I must say I love it. Midian and Nymphetamine I love too.

I love all of them lol. I'm happy I decided to go through their discography because I haven't listened to them in about 2 months, not counting the past couple of days.

Just listened to the cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden (someone recommended it to me), and damn, it is awesome. Not a match for the original, but still great.

Just listened to the cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden (someone recommended it to me), and damn, it is awesome. Not a match for the original, but still great. If you're looking for a good black metal version of an Iron Maiden song than find "Fear of the Dark" by Graveworm.

This ones prolly my favourite Cradle album, something about the way they use melody for a change on the record, or at least how they use it. Nice job on the review

This is their best, alongside with Midian. This is still better though. Barthory Aria is so awesome...

A well written review. One of Cradle of Filth's best albums. With their new albums they are out of touch with their old style which is the music which gained so many fans. But what really pisses me off is when Dani is slandered for not being able to sing or able to write lyrics. I mean listen to the fucking music this isn't simple lyrics or easy screaming. But i suppose you can never change peoples oppinions.
