I'm convinced that the band had 0% involvement with this re-release.

Yes Snake, it's THAT bad.
|
| |
yeah I bet Gerard has been pulling his hair out he probably feels awful knowing a shit ton of fans just got their hopes up for nothing
|
| |
i wasn't even going to fuck with this but is it really this bad or were people actually expecting some new good shit?

@Storm: He said a while back he hated his own fanbase so idk honestly.
@Snake: Snake, I have the original album at a 4.5. I was seriously looking forward to this; this is literally in the top five most lazy re-releases I think I've ever listened to, maybe even in the top 3.
|
| |
What would be the top one then? Genuinely curious, as you make this thing sound like the worst thing ever.

i enjoy some of the demos, but I ain't buying the album again. They should have done what Billy Talent did, release the demos as a separate disc

My #1 worst re-release is probably Crown the Empire's re-release of "The Fallout", their debut album. That album was a hard 4 for me, but all they did for the re-release of it was re-record their debut EP (a solid 3.5/5) in an incredibly shitty way. It was originally a 2, but it went down to 1.5 barely avoiding a 1 over time.

"@Storm: He said a while back he hated his own fanbase so idk honestly."
well that's lame but holy shit you just made sense to me of how he was such good friends with Burt of the used.

Yeah, he went on a rant about how he hates emo culture and the fans and hates when MCR gets associated with it;
Gerard Way's Rant:
Basically, it's never been accurate to describe us. Emo bands were being booked while we were touring with Christian metal bands because no one would book us on tours. I think emo is fucking garbage, it's bullshit. I think there's bands that unfortunately we get lumped in with that are considered emo and by default that starts to make us emo. All I can say is anyone actually listening to the records put the records next to each other and listen to them and there's actually no similarities. I think emo's a pile of shit.
|
| |
yeah i hate emo culture but i'm still gonna perpetuate it by dressing up like a failed tim burton character because i'm their fucking demigod lmao
|
| |
that reminds me I haven't listened to Sunny Day Real Estate in a long time.

Well now Gerard Way's making BritPop, so I have no clue what the fuck goes through that man's head anymore.
|
| |
its bizarre that he hates emo culture considering the image they put out is what most people actually associate with emo.
|
| |
I mean I love their music and I hate the tacky commercialised aesthetic they went for throughout most of their career, but it seems like its something they embraced rather than distanced themselves from

I think Gerard secretly hates My Chemical Romance.
|
| |
it's possible that he just wants to make music and not deal with any societal structures but yeah they did that to themselves

They were signed to Warner Bros / Reprise, what did they expect?
Every band with any sort of slightly different aesthetic signed to that label has been milked for all they're worth.
|
| |
I wouldn't be surprised if it was something their label encouraged tbh and they just accepted it begrudgingly
