Literally my only complaint here is that it's a little too short. Otherwise I enjoy the heck outta it

Same. An extra track would have been perfect but I do like everything on here. Sure its not overly experimental like many neurosis and its a bit more straight ahead and stripped back but apart from that Broken ground intro it absolutely rules.

They were all in a cabin writing after this album so I image even the bones of those songs will turn into a record at some point. They just got personal shit going on

Anyone know why they went with a shorter run time on this?

i dont think it was a conscious decision to make the album shorter than previous ones. they basically just said they felt it was complete.

I feel like this is the last we'll hear from Neurosis, not that they owe us anything else. I know Scott was affected by the Northwest wildfires even before covid and it's been pretty much radio silence from him since then. And the fact that Mastodon put out a double album and he doesn't appear on it tells me he is far removed from making any new music at this point.

Yeah I kinda agree I know scott but haven't spoke to him now for a few years and people who are much closer to him than me and have known him forever also say the same. After he out that statement out about his mental issues he just went dark it seems. Family shit and needs to concentrate 100% on that clearly. His wife got that crazy illness out of now where ,their house burned down, just horrendous luck for such a sweet fucking guy . He does have a project coming out soon I can't say too much about yet really but there's already a video and they were all together writing neurosis shit pre covid but seems like family priorities for him now over everything else as it should of course. I just hope he gets through it. I love that dude, before I knew him and after.

Yeah like I said we can't ask anything else from them, they've poured every ounce of their hearts and souls into this shit for decades and it shows. Untouchable discog and im perfectly fine if they never release anything else, they've given us more than we could ever ask for
