"The live version of Kingdom that Devy did for some guitar company is even better."

Yea, that one for EMG was frickin' nuts good. Decon is my personal fave. This is pretty ehh.

That's how it was for me at first. Now I've been listening to this every day. Devy doesn't disappoint me.

This does feel like a grower. I think in some ways that gigantic wall of sound production is detrimental to the first couple of listens because there's too much in the way of the good stuff.

So i finally listened to this without any other distractions right after waking up and with the lyrics and liner notes at hand and i think i finally "got" this album.

And i really enjoyed the tranquillity of it all. Prob between a 3.5 and 4 but more leaning towards the 4 right now.

He also wrote in the liner notes that this is the final album with the "project sound" to it, and im really curious whats coming next. He also mentioned that he had another closing song in mind first, "the occupation" which would have been way darker than transdermal celebration.

Higher was my favorite. First half is pretty enjoyable but the second half is weak to me.

this is an ill informed review btw. devin said multiple times that this album will be the last and final one in this style.

he also stated that trancendence is more about the message and the lyrics than the music itself so take from that what u want.

I doubt this will be the "final" one is this style tbh. I'm sure he's got more in him.

i'm not sure where the negativity is coming from regarding this album, i think it's among the strongest of all the DTP records and i'm not getting this 'bloat' thing, i think all the tracks are engaging and interesting

i dunno if this is even that "pop-metal"-y. it has a lot of the same basic styles of instrumentation but all the songs feel more restrained and progress much more effectively. songwriting much stronger than Sky Blue and therefore Epicloud

i think epicloud have some stronger tracks on it but if we're talking back-to-front good songwriting and consistency, this is without a doubt superior
