I think Nu Metal can be good. I loved the last Red album for example. But I also feel like it's a huge risk reward genre by nature. Like, I'd never be able to sit through the last Emmure, Skillet and Limp Bizkit records.

"I'm pretty sure that would apply to most albums. But the fact that it's been done over and over again loses any form of originality and/or creativity. Albeit, I still don't find it enjoyable."

Nailed it. When Linkin Park did this, it was good. When Three Days Grace did this, it was decent. But this album? Complete trash

If you find TDG's One-X, or LP's Hybrid Theory enjoyable, there's no reason why you shouldn't love this.

Unless you have a problem with Austin or Aaron's vocals (which I don't, I love the dual vocal play.)

I don't know why you keep going to Hybrid Theory, Meteora was the good one :] If I were to put this album and Meteora side by side, Meteora trumps it in all regards; better vocals with actual power behind them (in Chester's case), more enjoyable guitar, ecstatic drums, much more vibrant and varied electronic segments. Austin's cleans were honestly decent in the last album, here they are unbearable (don't even get me started on Aaron's yet again generic and boring voice). This album lacks energy from every musician, and they are most certainly not playing to their full potential

I feel like they just try too hard to be those bands on this album though. It came off as a bit tacky and tasteless when Austin tried to do that rap... thing on Relentless and all of the Nu-Metal aspects of the record just reminded me of things better bands have done. The Hunger, for example just sounds like a mainstream, radio rock version of a Tool song.

"Meteora is the good one."

Oh no I'm not saying HT because it's the good one (Meteora is easily LP's best)

I'm saying it because HT was the one that got most people into LP.

You didn't feel Austin's growls and such on tracks like Contagious had power? Shit was relatively vicious compared to contemporaries in the nu-metal genre.

Not at all, his growls have always been incredibly weak, even pathetic. All of his power was in his mids and high screams (when he could still do them). His breath control is still insane, that's all I will give him

He used to be great, hearing his highs come in on "Those In Glass Houses" always got me. Their first two albums are fantastic albums, last two not so much, especially in the case of this album. At least Restoring Force was like half and half

He's obviously not up to the super high standards he set in "The Flood"

But he's still pretty damn good here.

"I don't think it would apply to most albums, I think it would apply to any album that could have been perceived as having that "spark" that ignited the flames of nu-metal, and to me, this is an album that could have fit that role back in the day."

If any mediocre album was released before anything remotely similar, it would likely be acknowledged for being original, whether or not it's actually good. I think this would be more relevant for nu-metal albums since they generally sound the same. At least imo

This is Nu Metal Futures.

You literally can't argue that the genre of this is nu-metal.
