you know what’s actually underrated these days in the frank Ocean meta? fuckin’ Channel Orange. This has a more modern sound, where Orange reaches back in time for its influence, but CO is the finer crafted album god damnit. CO is my #1 of the past decade.

i'm glad even endless has more recognition than channel orange these days. other than a handful of songs that album doesn't interest me much

It’s like people forget the sole reason this album had such an ungodly amount of hype leading into it is because of CO.

As much as i do not enjoy this, its been seminal for the genre... Its not only decade-defyning, its genre defyning.

We live in a post-blonde world. (((And it kinda sucks ahum)))

For sure it’s an influential album

The influence is good in that artists are trying to branch out and are more tonally focused with their electronic & instrumental choices, but it’s bad in that tight song-writing and structure as a practice is fading fast.

"tight song-writing and structure as a practice is fading fast."

THIS. I always felt tight song-writing and strong structure were a strength of the genre, and it's cool to play around and shit, but i always feel it hurts the emotional build-up of a song when you literally change shit up mid-way or just frankenstein 2 or 3 demo-level ideas into a song. That's just a shitty practice to mantain on 1 album alone, let alone a whole buncha copycats that lack the charisma needed to pull this off and get all them suckers eating the shit straight outta your ass.

Seeing this pop up so often on the front page made me revisit it again. And dang it deserves a bump to a five

pink + white is really underrated. Slik production, a cool bassline, a clear progression from verse to verse. A very simple idea, but fully developed. If he had more songs like this, i think that'd be neato burrito.

But yea, people who fuck with this album prolly think this was too normal for Frank "streamofconsciousness4life" Ocean.

i disagree, but i have no solid argument against what you're sayin lol... Sorry for the hatin, y'all, i actually like FO, i just think he has so much untapped potential and that he really needs to work with more solid structured songs for it to trully shine through.
