this is growing on me a lot. songs like 'American Garbage' and 'No More Shame...' still suck, but the strengths of the album redeem them imo ('Cody's Theme' 'Goodbye...', 'White Worms', 'Terrifyer'). And 'Small Red Boy' is so so good.

So far this feels like maybe a speck better than Christmas Island. Will give it a few more listens, but ehh. I'll still love them for their classic shit.

I'm still struggling a lot with this album. Listening to Christmas Island, I just find so much more character in a lot of its songs. While I think this is a lot more consistent, there's so little I love as much as on it. I like this, of course, but a lot of the time it feels inconsequential and short and sometimes unaffecting. At the same time, it's hard to pinpoint why I feel the way I do about it, so I'm very much hoping it grows some more - it certainly has over the past few months.

never even heard this album but the new one is surprisingly solid

Eh, I'm finding the new one overly preachy at the mo. Perhaps I'm just growing tired of the (now) mountain of "well geez, the last couple years havent been so great" records that have been churned out as of late.
