You can notice the slight difference in their vocal delivery – Varg has a more deep, throaty growl, which doesn’t suit the music as well as Nocturno Culto.

Idiotic statement. Varg Vikernes wrote some of the songs. Nocturno Culto did 100% of the vocal work on Transilvanian Hunger.

Yeah I was probably wrong, but I'm still positive his vocal styles do change in the last four songs

Good review, even though it's old. I prefer "A Blaze In The Northern Sky", but I'm not all that big on Darkthrone. Still, most Darkthrone albums deserve 5/5 because they are so classic.

This is definetly a great black metal album. The quality is crap though, but that doesn't take away from the songwriting.

The production adds to the music in the case of this genre. Darkthrone kind of went overboard with it at times, especially Under a Funeral Moon.

I can get past the bad production quality, but the one thing that kind of annoys me is that the drummer only does one beat for the entire album.

The production is not bad. It is the perfect blackmetal production if you ask me.

Also, while Fenrix did do two other beats ( ) he admits himself he did pretty much the same beat through the whole album. It was something like "drums are not important at all on this album. They're just there to be there." I actually like the droning effect it creats though.

The repeated beat does make the album sort of feel like it is one giant song.

Have you seen the interviews on the remastered version? It's very funny to watch. Fenriz is quite a character.
