Good review for the most part. Your criticism for the lyrics is a bit all over the place, as in you mention it in several strange parts of the review instead of addressing them and moving on. Also the sentence everyone else is alread (deservedly) tearing apart. Otherwise this is a solid write-up.

I lol'd at this

"Skin Deep" isn't the greatest return to form, but does do a good job in further emphasizing the fact that Chelsea Grin is arguably the most instrumentally proficient act in modern metal

I thought Evolve was fantastic, and Ashes To Ashes, while not nearly as good, was pretty great as well. Then Richardson leaves, and they release this generic garbage

Richardson was the guitarist who joined from Born of Osiris right?

Well shit, his influence was definitely noticeably absent here.

Still a few good jams on this album.

Nothing on this album comes close to anything on Evolve, but there were two tracks I liked quite a bit, those being Four Horsemen and Scratching and Screaming. Richardson just brought them to heights that they couldn't keep once he left

Four Horseman, Skin Deep and Never Forever are really damn good tracks honestly, especially Never Forever.

I'd have to listen to Never Forever again, I only listened through the album twice and couldn't bring myself to play it through again

The vocals in Never Forever take a little adjusting to, but overall the instrumentals really are the best on the album tbh.

The lyrics a pretty damn awful. I can't listen to this album too much. I've listened to it all the way through maybe 3 times. The breakdowns are awfully uninspired and don't really derive from anything in the song. Also, I counted 19 "fucks" in the song "Love Song" and four different songs with some variation of saying how much they do not care (stop writing songs about it if you don't care anymore). Honestly the lyrical creativity of a 5 year old just learning what swear words are.

Instrumentals it's a about the same but lyrically it's a major step down. And that's considering that their lyrics were already bad.

Yeah, this is just monotonous and pretty terrible.

Vocals and lyrics are probably the worst thing about it.
