While i do agree with you on the third part being not quite as good(i think most do) you are dead wrong about disc 1.

I would argue (and welcome any refutation) that understanding the lyrics not just theoretically, but practically, increases the emotional impact of the music, at the very least i dont think it decreases it.

Check out Split My Tongue. Hits so incredibly hard at the end when he sings about personal disassembling over a blast beat. The sludgy major riff of the song rules too.
