There's not much I care for after First Impressions. I think they've outlived their usefulness now and I can't see them making a decent record again.

Remember when they were saying these guys were the next Stones.. ahhh
|

Probably because I was 6 at the time of their first record but never really got into these guys as I was too busy being obsessed with Good Charlotte.
Been listening to is this it quite a bit recently though, very catch with some solid tunes, will definitely catch them at Splendour in The Grass.
The next Stones? Fuck were they really that hyped up back then? They're (or they were) a good band but fuck that's some bold claims.

@schoonda I've had good times discovering that record. Enjoy man!

Cheers mate! Take it or leave it is an absolute jam.

The 2 guitarists used to have such amazing chemistry together

Easily my favorite rock band, never really understood all the hate they get. The distinctive blend of vocals, guitars and unusual melodies carries an epic yet blissfully nonchalant nostalgia that I haven't heard before or since. On the other hand, the fact that it isn't cool to like them anymore unequivocally proves that they suck...

they don't exactly get hate they just got boring. Their stuff past Room On Fire is really underwhelming and dull compared to their debut. And there are hundreds of bands like them, they inspired a crap load of shitty uk indie rock bands in the mid-2000s.

"they inspired a crap load of shitty uk indie rock bands in the mid-2000s."
Which is a shame, because they where actually one of the more interesting in their genre when they started out, I think. Now I sometimes feel they've almost become one with the generic indie rock sea. I still wouldn't call them a bad group, I'd take them over any other low brow spick-and-span Indie rock band.

The history of this band is a shrug, their stage presence is a shrug, Julian's mumble singing is a shrug, I just hated their aesthetic and never liked the music too much.

They should realise that this kind of act has a shelf life and they expired in like 2006

Ya know, a few more listens and I will say this isn't as bad as I judged it at first. I think its their ideas of production and the necessity to be different that is killing them.

If they released Drag Queen as a single on its own and included it on a new album in a similar style I'd dig it more, but it feels like they gimmicked up an EP for the sake of a few bucks and it lacks conviction
