nah I mean look at the list of Canadian tech death bands. it's small. Gorguts and Cryptopsy are the only big names, the only influencers.

so that assertion is completely left field everytime someone says that here

just because they're the only big names doesn't mean there aren't other excellent canadian tech death bands.

but for real check obliveon they're more thrash than death but they rule

Fuck, I wish I had the ability to rate this album 3.7. It's good, but I feel like they could have integrated the different styles a bit more smoothly. I absolutely love the acoustic bits and I love the more extreme bits but feel like they just smashed them together a bit haphazardly in the mid-points of the songs. Also, the vocal part at the very end of the first track is hilarious, haha. Great review.

quo vadis (steve digiorgio ftw), augury, martyr, neuraxis

might add beyond creation to that as well although it's a more controversial pick and i'm not that fond of some of their -core influences but they're some of the better modern tech death out there for sure. archspire if you're into super super fast wank

Cryptopsy's last really good album was Whisper Supremacy but Gorguts is still putting out stellar stuff

This isn't anything like Cryptopsy or Gorguts tho, all completely different bands

nah i was just baiting that dude

#1 way to spot an entry level metal hipster on the internet is if they claim they love obscura but haven't heard any other gorguts

honestly i love all their stuff a lot but erosion is my fav probably
