Uh huuuuhhhh

I honestly prefer this to Ohms [2]
However this is at the same off-kilter and badly mixed which is a perfect combo for disaster so I can't totally blame the detractors

I need more listens to Ohms but so far this one has more edges and is a little more memorable at some points.

The riffs on songs like Doomed User or Pittura Infamante are cringe

You can also take off songs like Rubicon, Gore and (L)MIRL. Those songs plus the production bring the album down

watch this get remixed in like 2026 and become my fav Deftones
which isn't *that* far from being to begin with anyway

This is better than Ohms :P
However I wish this had the production, mixing, and general flow of that album.

Thinking about it I don't think there's a Deftones record that I haven't considered a favorite at least once in the past few months of Deftones diving

First time listening through Gore on really nice headphones and immediately notice that the guitars on "Prayers / Triangles" are very muddy.
Production aside, I always thought this record was extremely boring with a handful of decent moments. "Doomed User" is a/the highlight, imo.

^ It's catchy and an obvious pick for a single, but it's like the least interesting song of the record for me.
Acid Hologram, Hearts/Wires, Phantom Bride and Rubicon are all some of my very favorite Deftones songs. Also love the weird melody of Xenon and there are so many great drum parts like in the harsh sections of Geometric Headdress or the t/t. Big fan of the many quiet/atmospheric parts in the album in general too. Ah dude I love this, remix it now plz

this definitely has a "vibe" going about it.
but man, I like Ohms a shit load more.

I really dig Ohms but outside of a few parts it sounds quite monotonous to me compared to this, and Chino's cleans sound so sleepy a lot of the time

I think the problem some of us have with Ohms is it might have been overthought. What I mean by that is Abe has gone on record saying it was written by everyone together and then they would go their own ways for a month before getting on a plane and getting back together and continuing.
I don’t know what their usual process is for writing but the fact he’s gone on record saying that makes me imagine it’s not the usual. And you can kind of “feel” that difference. A lot of their albums are fairly different from another but most of the songs seem focused together.

Just spun this again last night and it's so good. I'd forgotten how good "L(M)IRL" is.
