So in other words, this isn't a very effective review >_>
love some of the songs, but the album as a whole doesn't work for me: i hear a lot of repetition in songs like "GARBAGE" and "Beautiful Dirt". it does, however, redeem itself with the Final, which is my favorite song by them EVER.
and just a side note: Kiyoharu has an INCREDIBLY unique voice, i'm a huge fan of his also, and i say that Kyo sounds NOTHING like him. Kiyoharu's voice is too warbly, Kyo's is more smooth. Kyo did copy Kiyoharu for a while, that was one of his idols (and i've heard rumors that kyo was a roadie for him...). And anyone who says Dir en grey has "sold out" to attract more "American fans" should shoot themself. Just because they're growing as artists doesn't give you a right to rip their new stuff. Personally? MISSA was 5hit. Gauze was Yoshiki-5hit. I love Dir en grey, but give me VULGAR, WtD, or MoaB anyday. This Message Edited On 10.10.07This Message Edited On 10.10.07

Then why did you give the album a 1?
and tbh, they had more complex song structures and stuff back in Guaze and Macabre.

This was the first album I got by Dir En Grey. Last copy too! I especially dig Jesus Christ R'n'R, C, and Machiavellism. This is a preferred album to lose your J-virginity to, as it touches on metal in tracks like Merciless Cult, pop in Jesus..., and even old fashioned Rock n Roll on Machiavellism, and so much more. But this is only a capsule review so I'll be short. 4.5/5

I enjoy the first half of the album slightly more than the latter, but this is still one of my favorites.

Dir En Grey is much better than some American Experimental Metal bands like Deftones (whose songs are very, very boring).

Surely one of the best bands in the J-Metal scene.
