The quill from a buzzard, the blood writes the word
I want to know am I the sky or a bird?
'Cause hell is boiling over and heaven is full
We're chained to the world and we all gotta pull
Tom Waits is so metal

Another hit, for the most part. I might prefer a few of the cuts where he puts the pirate away and comes close to actually singing. There seems to be a little more variety here than on Swordfish for instance, where the grunts (for want of a better word) were an in-keeping part of the furniture. The contrast is interesting, albeit a harder one to grasp as a whole package perhaps.

Okay this is the first Waits album I’ve hit that actually sounded like what I expected him to sound like.

Not a bad place to start, one of his bests, but as they say "not immediately accessible".
